The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will hear a presentation Tuesday night from Animal Control director Carl Shipley regarding recent reports of coyotes killing livestock in northern areas of the county. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 in the colonial courthouse.

The coyote situation came to the attention of the board at its Feb. 1 meeting when Gordon Llewellyn, a farmer near Glenns, spoke to supervisors about the recent killing of 23 cows on his farm. The livestock deaths, he said, spanned a two-week period and are suspected to have been caused by coyotes.

Later at that meeting, at-large supervisor Michelle Ressler asked that the board be educated at its next meeting on coyotes. She said she had been doing some research and wondered how counties farther west deal with the problem. The idea of a bounty on coyotes was also tossed around to help cut down on the population.
