Supervisors hold six-hour closed meeting Friday

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors held a six-hour closed meeting Friday in the historic courthouse on Court Street.
The special meeting convened at 10 a.m. and the board remained in closed session until 4 p.m.
Upon reconvening in open session, supervisor Tom Bowen made two motions, both of which were approved unanimously. The first was to “ratify the county administrator’s signature on a commercial purchase agreement and the hiring of Bernadette La Casse.” La Casse is a real estate agent with Isabell K. Horsley Real Estate in Mathews.
The second motion was to approve the employment contract for County Attorney Andrea Erard.
Three topics were included on the published agenda. The first was consultation with the county attorney for legal advice on three matters—384 Old Ferry Road, an administrative investigation as authorized by the board of supervisors, and a maintenance contract with the Mathews County School Board.
