The Mathews County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a conditional use permit for a telecommunications tower at Cobbs Creek after a public hearing held during a special called meeting on Monday afternoon.
The permit will allow Verizon Wireless to construct a 195-foot self-supporting monopole telecommunications tower with a four-foot lightning rod on property owned by Matthew and Stephanie Lowe near the intersection of Cobbs Creek Lane and Buckley Hall Road. Verizon explained in its application that the tower is critical to its goal of “providing state of the art voice and data services in Matthews (sic) County, including wireless broadband.”
