Supervisors approve change in Garton’s employment agreement

The Gloucester Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a resolution amending the employment agreement between the county and county administrator Brenda Garton, which includes a change in her salary structure, during its July 3 meeting in the colonial courthouse.

The adjustment calls for Garton’s salary to change from $125,000 per year to $135,000.

Garton received the same 2 percent increase as all county employees, according to county spokesperson Christi Lewis. She also received a 5.725 percent adjustment, as did all full-time employees, to offset an increase in Virginia Retirement System employee responsibility.

In the modified contract, Garton’s automobile allowance of $8,000 a year was eliminated as was $2,000 in deferred compensation.
