Superintendent search process continues in Mathews

The Mathews County School Board moved ahead with the process to find a replacement for Superintendent of Schools Dr. David J. Holleran, who is retiring at the end of the 2014-2015 school year.

Meeting on Tuesday evening in the Mathews High School media center, the board approved the creation of an ad hoc superintendent search subcommittee of school board members Jen Little and Ginger Richards. School board chairman John Persinger said that the two women will serve as a “quick reaction committee” to handle any issues as the process continues.

During the start of Tuesday’s meeting, middle school teacher Amy Bohannon Stewart said that while there are many qualified candidates within the school system, the board should consider opening up the interview process to applicants outside the division.
