Sunrise Donuts expands into adjoining space

Sunrise Donuts and Sweets, LLC, recently doubled its space at White Marsh Village and has made—and is still making—changes to its format, owner Holly Cohoon said.

The store opened in August 2010 with 1,400 square feet in the strip center. Cohoon, who resides in Gloucester, took over an adjacent 1,400-square-foot building that was available for lease.

With the new space, Cohoon has converted her existing store into a production area, with the main retail outlet now next door. The dining room now seats 15, with plans to open a second dining room this summer.

The main dining room has a small stage, which Cohoon said is used to present storytime programs for young children. Also, acoustic entertainers will take the stage this summer. The larger space has allowed Cohoon to purchase additional equipment. She currently employs nine workers full- and part-time and is recruiting two more bakers and two more sales associates to help with the expanded menu and newly expanded hours....
