We had a young gentleman with us from Portsmouth who entertained all by singing. A delightful sail will be given to the island girls and boys by Mr. Broddis Brown and Mr. Bob Hudgins. Mr. Ernest Powell and Mr. Raymond took the hotel folks on a sail Thursday night. 110 YEARS AGOThursday, July 27, 1916from the Mathews Journal News from Dixie: The Dixie reporter has been very busy therefore this progressive little village with its good roads, and two of the most up-to-date ferries in this section of Tidewater, has failed to send in its items of interest. The dreaded man-eating sharks are reported to have made their appearance in the Piankitank River, near Green Point. All bathers are warned to beware.
