Suffering fingers, vaccines, and winter’s cold

120 YEARS AGOThursday, Feb. 8, 1906from the Mathews Journal Howard Brooks of Diggs had the misfortune of having three of his fingers accidently cut off by his brother on Friday evening last. Mr. Joseph Sadler came home last week, being unable to work on account of a sore arm from being vaccinated. The weather is very cold at this writing and the young people are having a gay time skating. 110 YEARS AGOThursday, Feb. 10, 1916from the Mathews Journal G.W. Bunch has purchased the old Bohannon School building and had it moved on his own land where he will go into the store business. Mr. Martin Marchant is visiting his family at Redart. He will leave in a few days for Wolf-trap Light as he has exchanged places with Mr. R.T. Hunley.
