Stuff the Bus on Aug. 16

The Salvation Army is gearing up to host Stuff the Bus at the Walmart Supercenter in Gloucester on Aug. 16. Shoppers can grab a few extra school supplies and drop them in Salvation Army collection bins at the front of the store.
“As the cost of living continues to rise, many parents are finding it harder than ever to afford the basic supplies their children need for school,” said Captain Antiono Willis, leader of The Salvation Army of The Virginia Peninsula. “Thanks to the generosity of Walmart shoppers, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to start the school year ready to learn.”
Every donation helps a child in Gloucester or Mathews head back to class with confidence, Willis said. All school supplies collected during the campaign will stay in the local community, directly benefiting students in Gloucester and Mathews.
