Stuff the Bus Aug. 5-7 at Walmart

Stuff the Bus is back next month.

The Salvation Army of Gloucester will hold its annual event to collect school supplies for local children in need on Aug. 5-7 at the Gloucester Walmart, Fox Centre Parkway.

The event is being held in concert with Virginia’s tax free weekend. The three-day sales tax holiday starts at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, and ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7.

During that period, qualified school supplies of $20 or less, qualified clothing and footwear of $100 or less per item, as well as emergency preparedness and Energy Star and WaterSense products will be exempt from state sales tax.

A bus will be set up at Walmart to receive needed supplies—everything from backpacks, pens and markers to thumb drives, post-it notes and hand sanitizer. A complete list of needed items can be found on the Salvation Army of Gloucester’s Facebook page.
