The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula is inviting high school juniors and seniors age 16 or older to apply for its Youth of the Year Mentorship Program.
The top three local finalists will each receive a scholarship, a MacBook and prize money. The local Youth of the Year winner will move on to compete at the state level for a $25,000 scholarship with the opportunity to compete at the national level for a $50,000 scholarship.
For accepted candidates, the program will provide training in resume development, public speaking, interview preparation with a mentor and professional shadowing opportunities.
To be eligible, juniors and seniors must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, complete a BGCVP application, commit to 50 hours per year as a member or volunteer, provide two letters of recommendation and be involved in community activities.
