Student art contest part of Mathews Open Studio Tour

The Mathews Open Studio Tour is hosting a student art contest as a way to celebrate its 20th year as an annual art event in Mathews.

Artists in grades 9-12 who live in Mathews are invited to submit original, two-dimensional art to the Bay School by Friday, Nov. 12, for review by a panel of judges, said a press release. Pieces may be in any medium, but may be no bigger than 20”x24”.

The theme of the contest is “Fire and Ice,” said the release, and work will be evaluated in part on the artist’s interpretation of the theme.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three artists, and their work will be prominently displayed at the Bay School throughout the holiday season, said the release.
