Structure fire

Gloucester firefighters battled this structure fire around 9 a.m. Monday at the end of Driller Lane, just north of Gloucester Court House. The caller reported that there was a fire in the bedroom of the residence and that everyone had gotten out of the structure safely, according to Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad Inc. spokesperson Hanna Carson. First responders extinguished the fire in the bedroom before it had spread. Carson said there was some smoke damage to the rest of the home, and damage was estimated to be approximately $3,000. No injuries were reported. She said GVFRS responded with one engine, a tanker, rescue truck, ambulance and 11 volunteers. Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc. responded mutual aid. ...
