Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire around 2:30 p.m. Monday on Crystal Lane near Signpine after a neighbor noticed fire coming from this abandoned mobile home. According to Hanna Carson, spokesperson for the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc., crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire and conduct overhaul operations. She said three engines, a tanker, rescue truck, medic and 21 volunteers responded to the scene. Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue back-filled GVFRS Station #1 with a rescue truck, an engine and personnel. The cause of the fire is still under investigation; no injuries were reported. ...
