Structure fire

This home on Wagon Run Road near Dutton was declared a total loss after flames swept through the house on Sunday afternoon. According to Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad spokesperson Hanna Carson, a neighbor called the fire in, saying smoke and flames were visible coming from the house. “Upon arrival, a single-story residence was found to have heavy flames coming from the front side, and smoke coming from all sides,” Carson said. “The embers from the house also started a small brush fire in the woods near the residence.” She said crews worked quickly to extinguish the house fire and the brush fire. No one was home at the time of the blaze and no injuries were reported on scene. She said GVFRS responded with five engines, one tanker, a rescue truck, ambulance and about 30 volunteers.
