Strong named director of Governor’s School

Dr. Jason Strong is the new director of the Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School, effective July 1, Dr. Carol B. Carter, presiding superintendent for CBGS, announced last week.

CBGS serves students in 14 counties—Gloucester, Mathews, Middlesex, New Kent, King and Queen, King William, Caroline, Colonial Beach, Essex, Richmond County, Westmoreland, North- umberland, Lancaster and King George—at three sites (Rappahannock Community College’s Glenns and Warsaw campuses and Bowling Green).

Strong, who has served for the past 11 years in administration with Richmond County Public Schools, replaces Dr. Rachel Ball, who was director for the past 2.5 years.

“Serving as the director of the CBGS is the perfect combination of my childhood curiosity with my professional career as a school leader,” said Strong. “I look forward to contributing to the CBGS tradition of combining content knowledge with genuine field experience.”
