Savannah Gross, above, a first grader at Achilles Elementary School, took second place among kindergartners for her story, “The Princess,” entered last spring in WHRO’s Young Storytellers Contest. Stories were judged on originality, creative expression, storytelling and integration of illustrations and winners were announced last month. Donna Phillips, Savannah’s kindergarten teacher, had her students enter the contest.
