Storm damage

A huge maple tree on the lawn of Eastfields Farms in Mathews was a casualty of a sudden storm that hit the area last Thursday. Farm owners Diane and Peter Perina said they were getting blueberries ready for the season on another part of the farm, and they returned to the house to find that a large section of the tree had split off, narrowly missing their car. They said they’d been in the house 40 years and the tree was old when they moved there. A total of four trees on their property were lost to the storm, they said.
