John Alan Stock has been named July Artist of the Month at the Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews. His work is on display through the end of the month in the Art Speaks Gallery at 279 Main Street, Mathews. Stock, an artist based in Virginia Beach, works in almost all major contemporary mediums, said a press release, including painting in acrylics, oils and cold wax; drawing in pencil, Conte crayon and pastels; and working in a diverse range of mixed media. His current exhibit includes both abstract work and multimedia collages. Some of Stock’s artwork blends collage images with abstract multimedia in interesting ways, said a press release. His work has been exhibited at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond and the Torggler Fine Arts Center at Christopher Newport University.
