Steve Bassett to perform at Deltaville Saturday

Steve Bassett and his musical friends will play from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Deltaville Maritime Museum’s Groovin’ in the Park series.

Todd Murray, who performs as “Sincerely, Iris,” will open for Bassett, beginning at 5.

One of Virginia’s best-known songwriters and performing artists, Bassett is co-author (along with Robbin Thompson) of the official Popular State Song of Virginia, “Sweet Virginia Breeze.”

According to Bassett’s website, this is the only time he and his band will be playing on the Middle Peninsula in the foreseeable future.

Murray, a professional musician for over 10 years, will take the stage at 5 o’clock. He will share his songs and custom “License Plate” slide guitar with his audience.

His repertoire includes music from The Beatles to The White Stripes. His music was recently featured on the WGN show “Bellevue” starring Anna Paquin.
