STEPHEN ELDRIDGE BROWN

Stephen Eldridge Brown of Gloucester, was born on July 13, 1914 and on Nov. 23, 2014, peacefully in his sleep went to be with his bride and the love of his life, Esther.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Eldridge Brown; mother, Bertha Lee Hogge Brown; and two brothers, Paul Edwin Brown and Jesse Garett Brown.

He leaves behind four sons, Stephen L. (Larry) Brown and his wife Rosalie, Jesse A. Brown, Donald L. Brown, and Richard J. (Dickie) Brown and his wife Lattie; two grandchildren, John Paul Brown, son of Larry and Rosalie, and Brenda Cardenous, daughter of Donnie, and two great- grandsons.

He was known by a few nicknames, Root, Trifling, Pompey, Joe, and Sparky, but most just called him Pop.

He was a great man, husband, and dad. He was Superman, a hero always willing to put the wants and needs of those he loved before his own; ready at all times to help a friend or neighbor when needed.

Though he may not be around to hug and kiss, he will always be alive in our hearts and thoughts.

There are lots of Pop’s friends, too many to list, but you know who you are. He would have this to say to you: “Be good to yourself and give yourself a great day. I love you. Thank you all.”
