STARR FROMKIN BELVIN

Starr Fromkin Belvin of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by her immediate family in the early hours of Aug. 29, 2018.

Mrs. Belvin is survived by a large extended family including her companion, Bob North; her five children, Stan, Stacie, Forrest, Ashley, and Mark, along with their respective spouses; granddaughter, Raven Girard; two grandsons, Casey and Sammie Belvin; brother, Howie Fromkin with his wife Liz; niece, Molly Fromkin; sister, Karen Wheeler and her husband Bill; brother-in-law, Elliott Belvin, sister-in-law, Nancy Belvin, and two nephews, Daniel and Michael Belvin.

Starr, or “Momma B” as she was known by so many, lived a blessed life raising her family in Gloucester, Virginia and then in her later years calling the Outer Banks of North Carolina home. Always the consummate hostess and entertainer, Starr truly shined a bright light on everyone she met.

Living the beach life was a special part of Starr’s personality. Her love of the Caribbean Islands, cruising, sightseeing and taking in the local cultures always brought a smile to her face. Starr was well known to cook for dozens of friends and family while thoroughly enjoying the experience.

Starr took over proudly in her husband’s role on the Gloucester County School Board after his passing in 2006 and went on to be reelected to a second term.  

A graveside service at Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery, Gloucester, was held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, followed by a celebration of her life at the York River Yacht Haven, 8109 Yacht Haven Road, Gloucester Point, Va. 23062. The venue was on the second floor adjacent to the outdoor pool.
