Michaelene Fortner built her business from the ground up and has made a success with her hard work. She established Starbrite Security in 1991, and offers electronic security, fire, and medical alarm fire systems, professionally installed, for residential and commercial use.

“As a woman starting and building a business in a male-dominated field, it has been a triumph to learn to be true to myself,” Fortner said.

She grew up in York County, moving to Gloucester in 1978. She holds an associate’s degree in applied science in electronic security systems, and is registered in several categories with the Department of Criminal Justice and is certified as an electronics security technician.
