With temperatures hovering around the 80-degree mark, Tuesday was a perfect day to get outside and get on the field, as spring sports returned to area schools. In top photo, Cameron Palas lines up her swing during the Gloucester High School varsity softball team’s home scrimmage Tuesday afternoon against Middlesex. The Lady Dukes bested the Chargers, 11-1. Below, Mathews High School freshman Meredith Salvadori (#2, at right) faces off against a Grafton player in a girls’ soccer scrimmage. Although the Lady Devils fell to the Clippers, 7-2, the MHS girls played well against the bigger Class 4 opponents, with Salvadori scoring both Mathews goals.
