The Mathews Music Department and Seahawk Band presented a combined spring concert last Wednesday at the Harry M. Ward Auditorium at Mathews High School. Each group performed, starting with the MHS Jazz Band, String Orchestra and Percussion Ensembles, the Sixth Grade Beginning Band, Seventh Grade Intermediate Band and the Blue Devil Band. Above, MHS band and orchestra director Mark Givens conducts the Seahawk Band. Below, MHS senior Felicity Hartlove performs a solo on the saxophone with the school’s Jazz Band. The combined MHS and THMS band ended the concert by performing the theme to “Star Wars.” Also during the program, MHS senior Toby Eskins gave a present from the graduating seniors to Givens, a bullhorn megaphone for him to use on the practice field.
