Sprague is Bay School featured artist

Georgia Sprague of Gloucester has been named the featured Artist of the Month for October at the Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews.

A graduate of Christopher Newport University with a BA in Studio Art, Sprague has recently focused her efforts on acrylic painting. She said she finds it “a most convenient medium for her busy life as a single mom,” said a press release.

Sprague has been busy building her body of work piece by piece, said the release, with subjects inspired by personal experiences such as moments she has shared with her daughter, gardening friends, trips to aquariums, and a few beloved pets.

Works by Sprague have been shown in exhibitions around the Tidewater area, including the 2022 Small works Exhibition at the Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center, where she won first place, and the Art Speaks Juried Exhibition at the Bay School, where she received an Award of Merit.

The exhibit will be on display throughout October.
