Special exception sought for amusement enterprise

The Gloucester County Board of Zoning Appeals will hold public hearings beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the colonial courthouse for two special exceptions and an appeal of the zoning administrator’s action.

William B. Hudgins, applicant and trustee for the William B. Hudgins Revocable Trust, property owner, is requesting a special exception to allow establishment of a recreation and amusement enterprise for a practice facility and batting cage near Hudgins’s car dealership on Route 17 south of Gloucester Court House.

Hudgins has applied for an imbedded variance of 500 feet to special exception criterion “C,” which requires that “activities shall be conducted at least 500 feet from any residential district.” The Hudgins property lies in the York Magisterial District and is zoned Business (B-1).
