Aiden Sowers, principal harpist for the Richmond Youth Symphony Orchestra, was the first soloist to perform in the Summer Service Soloists Program at Kingston Episcopal Parish, Mathews.

A junior at Mathews High School, Sowers performed Prelude Processional by Linda Wood and Pastorale by Marcel Grandjany at the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday. He also sings in the MHS chorus and is the assistant choir teacher at the Ware Church Children’s Choir School.

The Summer Service Soloist Program will feature two other soloists, each performing at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Kingston Chapel. Oboist Melinda McKinzie will perform on Aug. 14 and violinist Valerie DeBrava will play on Aug. 28. The musicians’ appearances are all compliments of the Strings & Things network.
