Mrs. Sonia A. (Jackson) Traylor of Gloucester Point, passed to her heavenly home on June 11, 2017.

Sonia was born to Vodie and Florence Jackson on August 7, 1933. She was educated in Newport News Public Schools. Sonia was married to David S. Traylor and they raised four children in York County.

After retirement, they moved to Pencil Bluff, Arkansas, where they raised chickens and cattle. Sonia was active in the Women’s Club and was on the Hospitality committee of both churches in Virginia and Arkansas. Sonia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; a brother; her husband, David S. Traylor of 65 years, and a son-in-law, Danny Wood.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Carter (Joe), Teresa Wood, Donna Traylor and David W. Traylor; grandchildren, Kevin Carter (Heather), Daniel Belor (Wendy), Lisa Jones (Garrett), Ashley Zeno (Michael), Jason Carter, Katelyn Mosquera (Guillermo); 12 great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Nell Cook, Merna Pierce, Minnie Whitehouse, Louise Traylor and Grace Jackson.

A graveside service will be held later in the family plot at Macedonia Cemetery, Pencil Bluff, Arkansas.

The family would like to thank the Riverside Walter Reed Hospice care team, Christy and Johnathan, and Dr. Khreis, for the wonderful care given to our mother.
