Snow make-up days already handled for Mathews schools

While snow days have taken their toll on other school divisions, forcing them to consider Saturday classes and or shortening their spring vacations, Mathews has already handled its lost days through three make-up days, including two this week.

The Mathews County School Board retroactively approved changes to the division’s 2013-2014 calendar during Tuesday night’s meeting, which was held in the Mathews High School media center.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. David J. Holleran converted two teacher workdays (Jan. 27 and Tuesday of this week) as well as Monday’s Washington’s Birthday holiday into regular school days. Barring any future inclement weather, the rest of this year’s calendar should remain untouched, he said.
