Smith’s Florist receives award from Teleflora

Smith’s Florist, located on Main Street at Gloucester Court House, has received a special award from Teleflora, a floral wire service company.

Karen Soles, who manages the store with her sister Connie Field, said that a regional Teleflora representative presented a plaque to the local business on Nov. 30. They were recognized for being in the Top 2000 Teleflora outlets for customer service and sales, Soles said, out of approximately 15,000 stores in the Teleflora network. Teleflora brokers orders to local florists for delivery, its website said.

Smith’s Florist handles both fresh flowers and plants through Teleflora, Soles said. In addition, the shop sells a wide assortment of gift items. Jean Smith of Gloucester, mother of Soles and Field, ran Smith’s Florist for many years and still owns the business. Soles and Field work full-time at the shop, with eight part-time employees.
