A new boat repair business has been established in Port Haywood. Erik Davis recently opened Sloop Creek Boat Works at his home, offering fiberglass repair on all types of boats—work boats, pleasure boats, sailboats and power boats.

Davis said he has over 25 years of experience working on fiberglass boats. A lot of the jobs he’s done have involved floors with improperly installed hardware that allowed leaks to occur, resulting in rot. He said he has experience with transom repairs, as well, and creates custom parts, such as brackets to hold outboard motors.

In addition to boats, Davis creates custom fiberglass parts for motorcycles and trucks, and he does gelcoat repairs. He emphasized that he does not repair engines, electrical or plumbing.

Since he doesn’t have the overhead of a marina or boatyard, Davis said he has competitive prices, and when a customer asks for an estimate, Davis said he always explains the proper way to perform a repair, whether he does it or someone els...
