Skimming the water

A Canada goose skims the water as it flies right above Butler Creek in Hayes. A pair of geese and osprey have been jockeying over a housing issue on the creek, according to photographer Linda Tjossem. Four years ago, a pair of Canadas took up residence in an osprey nest until their goslings hatched in mid-May. Then the ospreys returned and rebuilt. Currently, the ospreys are in the nest while the geese are swimming below it. It appears to be that controlling the nest is the goal for both sets of birds.
