Sandy Thornton, left, and Calisse Manning, board members of Sisters in the Spirit, unload gift bags prepared as part of a party from the local group for the 127 residents of Walter Reed Convalescent Center in Gloucester. The bags included socks, toiletries, puzzle books and inspirational writings. Members also sang Christmas carols, led Bible study, and distributed the bags to residents’ rooms.
