The Mathews Family YMCA is holding signups now for its Summer Day Camp. Campers are encouraged to use the summer program as a playground to make new friends, explore, and discover, said a press release.
Camps will offer arts and crafts, STEM-based activities, physical exercise, swimming fun, and structured/spontaneous play. Children will also be able to participate in weekly field trips.
Camp will run from June 8 to Aug. 28, with weekly themes that include Splashing into Summer, Full Steam Ahead, Blast from the Past, and Patriotic Parade. There are also camps titled Natural Wonders, 5 Days of Kindness, Out of this World, Lights-Camera-Action, and Reading Builds Character.
Finally, children may participate in Under the Big Top, Summer Safari, and Gearing up for School. There will be field trips to Richmond Zoo, Belle Island State Park, Virginia Living Museum, Bethpage, and Great Wolf Lodge, among others.
The Y is increasing its licensing capacity at the Middlesex Family YMCA to host more campers than ever, said the release, uniting Mathews and Middlesex counties.
Participants will receive breakfast and lunch daily. For details, visit www.peninsulaymca.org.
“Together we are looking forward to our continued partnerships throughout the counties to help provide the best camp experience for our youth in Mathews and Middlesex,” said the press release.
