After a quarter century of covering high school basketball on the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula on 101.7 Bay FM WKWI, Carroll Ashburn, at left, and Demetrius Means have decided that now is a good time to sign off. Means is entering his second season as the basketball analyst for VCU women’s basketball and Ashburn is continuing his love for providing community service for Lancaster County. The two broadcasted 468 career games together and received broadcasting awards in 2011 and 2018 from The Virginia Association of Broadcasters, for Best Outstanding Sports Coverage for Virginia High School Basketball. The photos show the pair taking part in their first broadcast in 1995, above, and their last on-air appearance on March 6, 2020.
