Sidney Franklin Dize Jr., 73, of Mathews, passed away on Friday, Aug. 7, 2015.

He worked as a Master Welder for the Newport News Shipbuilding for 42 years. He also drove the Newton’s shipyard bus for the length of his employment.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney F. Dize Sr. and Elva Pierce Dize.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Harrow DIze; three aunts, Margie Snow, Frances Ward and Annie Ruth Collier; an uncle, John Robert Pierce, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, at 3 p.m. in Zoar Baptist Church, Deltaville, Va. Burial followed in Philippi Memorial Garden. The family received friends one hour before the service at the church.

Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, was in charge of the arrangements.
