Liz Turner, chair of the Abingdon Ruritan Club’s Citizen and Patriotism Committee, stopped by the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office on June 24 to present a donation of $1,000 from the club for the Shop with a Cop program, which helps county children at Christmas. The event last year involved more than 50 officers from the Gloucester Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police, Virginia Marine Police, Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, Virginia ABC Law Enforcement, Williamsburg Police Department and West Point Police Department.
