Shirley Moore West, 82, of Hayes, passed away Feb. 22, 2017. 

Shirley was born Jan. 24, 1935 in Halifax County to the late Joseph Selden and Marion Boyd Moore. She attended Halifax High School, and retired from Colonial Williamsburg as a cashier/hostess. She was loving and kind, and will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter, Linda Powell Combs Armstrong.

She is survived by her husband, Maurice West; sister-in-law, Gerrie Troie; son, Wayne Powell (Judy) and grandson, Michael; son-in-law, Stafford Armstrong; grandson, Brian Combs (Marcy); step-granddaughter, Heather Guthrie and step-great-grandchildren, Isabella and David; step-daughter, Helen-Marie Powell (Andrew) and step-grandchildren, Aislinn, Cecilia and Michael; step-son, David West and step-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Tabitha, William and Abigail.

The family received friends Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, from 6-7 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Graveside service will be Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Dan River Baptist Church Cemetery, Halifax.

The family would like to thank the nurses and CNA staff at Sanders and the staff of Riverside Walter Reed Hospice.
