Shirley Jean Morris, 88, of Port Haywood, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019.

She was born on August 27, 1930 in Beach Grove, Indiana. Shirley loved her church family at St. Paul United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being with her many friends at the Mathews Senior Center. Shirley loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much, and was known to everyone as “Nana.”

She is survived by her daughters, Melanie L. Miles, Glenda Carol Traverse, and Jody Ann Dudley; sons, George Michael Girdler, James Lee Girdler and Richard Todd Girdler; sisters, Sharon Rudolph and Suzanne Lantz; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and her dog and best friend, “Gizmo.”

The family received friends at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Susan, on Saturday, March 9, 2019, from 12:30-2 p.m. A funeral service was held at 2 o’clock at the church; interment followed at St. Paul Annex.

Shirley’s family would like to thank all of their church family for their assistance over the last year.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church and to the Bay Aging, Mathews Senior Center.
