Shirley Jean Bragg of Hayes, born on June 27, 1942 in Goshen, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Jan. 31, 2023 in Hayes. Shirley obtained her GED and graduated from Blue Ridge Community College with her CNA degree. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Edith Sampson; sister, Phyllis Howard; brother, Donald Sampson; husbands, Robert O’Neil and Mason Bragg. She is survived by her daughters, June Lupton, Robin Cooke, and Edith Walters; son, Kenneth O’Neil; her sisters, Penny Barker and Doris Broughfman; brother, Joey Sampson; 10 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Edith and her family would like to thank Riverside Hospice Team, especially nurses, Lisa and Amanda, and nursing aides, Katie, Jessica, Ashley, and Tanya, who provided such excellent care and a special thank you to Brittany Millen for the care and support she gave.
