SHIRLEY DAVIS HUDGINS

Shirley Davis Hudgins, "Grandma Honey," age 86, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012 at her home in Susan, Va.

She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and was an active member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the New Point Homemakers Club, Mathews Woman’s Club, and a Past Matron of Oriental Chapter No. 30, OES. She worked for Bank of America and retired after 13 years of service. Shirley was a beloved and devoted mother to all of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Captain and Mrs. Eugene Russell Davis, and two brothers, Eugene Davis and Paul Davis.

She is survived by four children, Patricia Bing and her husband John of Amelia, Joseph Elton Hudgins Jr. and his wife Claudia of Susan, Lynn James of Susan and Judy Baber and her husband Byron of Chesterfield County; nine grandchildren, Laurie Nebe, Charles Edwin Bing, Thomas Brian Hudgins, Joseph Scott Hudgins, Elton Hudgins Garcia Tello, David Nowell James Jr., Stephen Carroll James, William Elton James, and Elizabeth Grace Baber; 14 great-grandchildren, and a beloved cousin, Doris Kotarides of Norfolk, Va.

The family received friends on Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Va., with an Eastern Star Memorial Service at 7 o’clock. A funeral service was held on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with burial in Providence Cemetery, Miles, Va.
