The Bethany United Methodist Men recently hosted Mary Shipko as the featured speaker at the group’s March meeting. Shipko is one of the first female commercial airline pilots in the United States and spoke about her flying career and what it was like to be a female breaking into an all-male profession. She lives in Gloucester Point and is one of the women featured on the mural at Gloucester Court House. The Bethany United Methodist Men meet on the last Tuesday of each month (except during the summer months) at 6:30 p.m. at Nick’s Spaghetti & Steak House, Gloucester Point.
