SHEILA MAE WINGO BOOTH

Sheila Mae Wingo Booth went home to her Lord and savior on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018.

She was born on Sept. 18, 1936 in Amelia County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Robert and Marian Wingo, and they moved to Hampton, Virginia in the early ’40s.

Sheila graduated from Hampton High School in 1954. She married the love of her life, Ronnie Booth, on Jan. 5, 1957, and they had three girls. They moved to Gloucester, Virginia, in 1977 and they built their dream home and planted a garden. They loved to work the land. Sheila worked for the Department of Social Services for 20 years as an Eligibility Supervisor until she retired in January 2000. Sheila was active with the First Presbyterian Church in the Prayer Shawl and Stephen Ministries.

Sheila loved to knit and crochet and was constantly working on prayer shawls, blankets for the babies at CHKD, and each grandchild has at least one of Nana’s blankets.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marian Wingo; her sister, Forest Fields, and her husband, Charles “Ronnie” Booth.

She is survived by her sister, Amelia Anning (Harold) of Gloucester; her daughters, Ellie Galloway (Stuart) of Gloucester, Sherry Brown (Chris) of Fairfax, and Sally Wood (Steve) of Gloucester;  nine grandchildren, Sarah Warfield (Angela) of Virginia Beach, Jacob Galloway of Gloucester, Ryan Brown (Jaimee) of Fairfax, Sean Brown (Kate) of Houston, Texas, Nicholas Lawrence of Chicago, Illinois, Lindsay Forrest (David) of Gulfport, Mississippi, Jessie Brown of Arlington; Cory Brown of Fairfax, Rachel Lawrence of Gloucester; three stepgrandchildren, Ben Wood and Hunter Wood of Williamsburg, and Parker Wood of Virginia Beach; three great-grandchildren, and two more on the way.

The family will receive friends at Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory in Gloucester on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 10:30-11:30 a.m., with a memorial service beginning at 11:30
