Shed fire

Members of the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc., battled two shed/garage fires last Thursday afternoon. The first, above, occurred around 1:30 p.m. at the end of Hickory Knoll Road near the Court House. The fire from the shed, which was a complete loss, melted the siding on the adjacent home, according to GVFRS chief J.D. Clements. The cause of that fire was undetermined. Later in the day, firefighters responded to a similar incident on Friendship Road near Dutton. That structure was completely destroyed, and fire sparked by a lawn mower, Clements said. The GVFRS received mutual aid from Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad and the Mathews Volunteer Fire Department on the Friendship Road call. No injuries were reported with either blaze.  ...
