After a long and courageous battle with cancer Sharon passed away at home surrounded by her family Friday, Jan. 22, 2016.
She is survived by her husband, Robert H. George; son, Robert Thomas, wife Katie, and daughter, Jennifer, as well as a large and loving extended family.
Sharon moved to Gloucester in 1974 and to Mathews in 2000. Born outside Washington, D.C., she took to the country life after moving to Gloucester. She loved being outside, on the water, as well as being at the beach with family and friends. In addition to raising a family, her avocation was being a personal trainer and helping others lead a better life.
Her kind and gentle nature as well as her dazzling smile will be greatly missed by family and friends.
There was a memorial service on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Dr. Douglas Nagel in First Presbyterian Church in Gloucester.
