SHARI KAYE ETHERIDGE

Shari Kaye Etheridge, 48, of Seaford, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017.

Shari was a native of Gloucester and Seaford. She worked for Suter Printing in Williamsburg until her health declined, and spent her remaining years as the caretaker of her mother-in-law and father-in-law, both preceding her in death.

Shari was proud of nothing more in life than her children, and their many friends whom she considered her own children. She loved watching Yankees baseball games, and there was no bigger Derek Jeter fan than her. Christmas time was spent baking her world-famous monster cookies to distribute to her beloved family and friends. She donated nine years of her time to Gloucester Youth Baseball, where families knew her as “The Hot Dog Lady,” never missing an opportunity to serve her homemade hot dog chili.

Shari is survived by her husband of 25 years, Ivan; her daughter, Casey Arden (Mike); son, Ray; parents, Casey and Evon Lemon; brother, Bill Lemon; lifelong best friend, Vicki Burbage, and countless others.

The family would like to send special thanks to neighbor Susan Shaw, friend Barbara Zeno, friend Charles Allen, and the Builder’s Class at Zion Methodist for all of their support for the family.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Zion United Methodist Church in Seaford, with the Rev. David Magruder conducting. The family will receive friends following the service in the church social hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in her honor to The Doorways in Richmond, where she spent many of her remaining days www.thedoorways.org.

Arrangements by Amory Funeral Home, Grafton.
