Antioch Baptist, Susan

Apostles Lutheran

Apostles Lutheran Church, Gloucester, will hold the sixth Sunday after Pentecost worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday. A special offering for ELCA World Hunger will be received during the service. A coffee fellowship will be held after the service.

Bellamy United Methodist

Bellamy United Methodist Church, Gloucester, will worship at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 Sunday. The Adult Sunday School class will meet at 9:30. Children’s Church will be held at 10:30.

Bethany United Methodist

The sermon title of Pastor John Choi of Bethany United Methodist Church, Gloucester Point, at the 8:30 a.m. informal Sunday service and 11 o’clock traditional service will be “A Truly Unique Spirituality.” Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:45 and nursery will be available for infants to 3 years olds.

Bethel Baptist

The Rev. James Harris and Friends will visit the residents of Walter Reed Convalescent Center at 11 a.m. Friday. They will sing and he will share a message with the residents.

Bethel Baptist Church, Gloucester, will celebrate its 158th anniversary on Sunday. The sermon title of the Rev. Dr. Katrina Brown at the 11 a.m. service will be “Understanding the Assignment.” A boxed lunch will be served after the service. The Rev. Vincent Pryor of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church will be the guest speaker at the 3 p.m. anniversary service. He will be accompanied by his church family.

Bethel Church of Mathews

Kenneth Whitehead will be the speaker at the 11 a.m. Sunday service in Bethel Church of Mathews, in Onemo. Richard Callis will provide special music.

“The Stutts Creek Gospel Boys” will play bluegrass/country music at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 26. There will be an ice cream social in the fellowship hall afterwards.

Beulah Church of New Point

Pastor Dede Parrish of Beulah Church of New Point will preach at the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

Central United Methodist

The sermon title of the Rev. Rebecca Rumburg of Central United Methodist Church, Mathews, at 9:15 a.m. Sunday will be “The One Thing Needful.” Sunday school at 10:15 follows worship.

Church of the Living Word

The sermon title of Dr. Gregory Woodard of Church of the Living Word, Hayes, at 10 a.m. Sunday will be “Transition Continues.”

First Baptist

The sermon title of Pastor Ward Warren of First Baptist Church, Ordinary, at the 10 a.m. Sunday service will be “Giving Up is not an Option.” Church school begins at 9.

First Morning Star Baptist

“Locating the Real Treasure” will be the sermon title of Pastor Larry J. Arrington of First Morning Star Baptist Church, Bena, at the 11 a.m. communion Sunday service. The service will be broadcast by teleconference (804-256-2475) and livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page.

Gloucester Point Baptist

The sermon title of Pastor Dillon Evans of Gloucester Point Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Sunday will be “Rooted in Christ, Not Counterfeits.”

Gwynn’s Island Baptist

Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church will hold its outdoor drive-in worship on the grounds of the Gwynn’s Island Civic League property, across from the church, at 10 a.m. Sunday; parking begins at 9 o’clock. The sermon title of Pastor Ed Jordan will be “Multi-dimensional Growth–Three More Growth Directions.”

Ladies’ Bible Study meets at 10 a.m. Thursdays and Men’s Bible Study meets at 9 a.m. Tuesdays.

Kingston Episcopal

Kingston Episcopal Parish, Mathews, will observe sixth Sunday in Pentecost with Holy Eucharist Rite I at 9:30 a.m. at Christ Church on Williams Wharf Road.

Wednesday noon Holy Eucharist/Healing will take place there, also, as will the Vestry meeting at 5:30 p.m.

The sermon title of Pastor Ray “Bud” Goude of Severn Church, Naxera, at 11 a.m. Sunday will be “The Invitation to Commitment.” Sunday school classes begin at 10 o’clock. The worship service will also be available on YouTube and Facebook.

Neal and Shirley Hogge lead a Tuesday Bible study at 6:30 p.m. and Pastor Goude leads a Wednesday Bible study at 10 a.m. Both held in the church fellowship hall and open to all, a release said.

Shepherdsville Baptist

The sermon title of Pastor Douglas Riley of Shepherdsville Baptist Church, Gloucester, at 11 a.m. Sunday will be “The Best is Yet to Come.”

An Anthem Lemonade stand will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Food Lion, 7465 Hargett Boulevard, Gloucester.

Westville Baptist

The sermon title of Susan Martin at the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service in Westville Baptist Church, Mathews, will be “The Way of the Cross Leads Home.” Sunday school, “Psalms,” will precede the service at 9:45.

There will be a business meeting at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Zion Hill Baptist

Zion Hill Baptist Church, Gloucester, began Vacation Bible School Day Camp on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. at the church. It continues through Friday. There will be Bible lessons, outdoor fun, arts, crafts, games, food and classes available for all ages.

Zion Poplars Baptist

The Rev. Ezekial Smith of Zion Prospect Baptist Church, Yorktown, will preach at the 11 a.m. Sunday service in Zion Poplars Baptist Church, Gloucester. The Senior Choir will sing. The church will celebrate its 159th anniversary at 3 p.m. The Rev. Marcus Jennings and Woodland Baptist Church, Norfolk, will render the service. Deacon Joseph Rice of Rising Valley Baptist Church, James Store, will be worship leader. Dinner-to-go after the service.
