Special services and other activities in churches this week include the following:
Abingdon Episcopal
Abingdon Episcopal Church, White Marsh, will hold Holy Eucharist services at 8 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Both services are held in person and the 10:30 service is live streamed on Facebook and YouTube. Apostles Lutheran
Apostles Lutheran Church, Gloucester, will hold in-person worship at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The service can also be joined via Zoom; an invitation to the service and the bulletin will be sent to the congregation via email and can also be accessed on the church’s website at apostles-elca.org. Youth group for grades 6-12 will be held after the service. Children’s Chapel will be held at noon and a new Bible study is being held on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. via Zoom.
Bellamy United Methodist
Bellamy United Methodist Church, Gloucester, will celebrate worship at 9 a.m Sunday in the picnic pavilion or the fellowship hall depending on weather and air quality conditions, and 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. All adults should consider wearing a mask for the safety of others while inside the building.
On Wednesday, the Women’s Community Bible Study began meeting at 9 a.m. for the new year. On Wednesday evenings at 7 o’clock the Real Life Families ministry meets in the fellowship hall.

Bethany United Methodist
The sermon title of Pastor Moonsup “Paul” Song of Bethany United Methodist Church, Gloucester Point, at 10 a.m. Sunday will be “How Do I Love My Church?—By Presence?” A churchwide breakfast will be held in the fellowship hall at 9:15 in celebration of “Welcome Back to Sunday School.” Sunday school for all ages will follow the worship service.
Bethel Baptist
The sermon title of the Rev. James L. Harris at noon Sunday in Bethel Baptist Church, Gloucester, will be “The Eye That Counts.” This will be an in-person worship service. All worshippers will be required to wear a mask while inside the church; temperature checks performed and social distance observed. Sunday school will start at 10 o’clock.

Nancy Rowe will speak at the 10:50 a.m. Sunday service in Bethel United Methodist Church, Onemo. The September Mission Project will be collecting school supplies for Mathews Elementary School.
Church of the Living Word
The sermon title of Dr. Gregory Woodard at the 10 a.m. Sunday revival service in Church of the Living Word, Hayes, will be “It’s Working for Your Good.”
The Gospel of St. Luke will be the topic for the 6:30 p.m. in-person Wednesday Bible study.
First Baptist
The sermon title of Pastor Ward Warren of First Baptist Church, Ordinary, at the 11 a.m. Sunday in-person service will be “Remember the Sacrifice.” Church school will be at 9:30.

Gleaning Baptist
The Good Samaritan Helping Hands Ministries of Gleaning Baptist Church, Gloucester, will accept food and monetary donations from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. every Wednesday in September at the church for “Hunger Action Month.” To learn more you can tune into Stevens Burrell on Facebook. Food will also be distributed to those in need from noon-2 p.m. every Wednesday at the church.
Gloucester Point Baptist
The message of Pastor Bud Goude of Gloucester Point Baptist at 11 a.m. Sunday will be from Revelation 3:13-22.
Those who are unvaccinated are encouraged to wear a mask; all others may use their discretion, a release said.
The church service is also being broadcast from the parking lot on Sunday mornings on radio FM 90.5.
Groves Memorial Presbyterian
The sermon title of the Rev. Michael Condrey of Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church, Glass, at 10 a.m. Sunday will be “You are the Christ.”
The Shelby Friend Circle will meet at 6 p.m. Sept. 21 at the church.
Gwynn’s Island Baptist
Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church will hold a drive-in service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday around the gazebo across from the church. Parking will begin at 9 o’clock. The sermon topic of Dr. Ed Jordan, pastor, will be “God’s Timing.” Autumn Jenkins and Michele Thacker will provide special music.
Kingston Episcopal Parish
Kingston Episcopal Parish, Mathews, has returned to its regular Sunday schedule, 8 a.m. at Christ Church and 10:30 at Kingston Chapel at the parish house. The later service is livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook.
Monday class on “My Story, our Story, God’s Story: the Sacred in Story and Experience,” will begin via Zoom at 4 p.m. Wednesday Healing/Holy Eucharist will be at noon. Newington Baptist
The sermon title of Pastor Mike Gray of Newington Baptist Church, Gloucester, at 10:30 a.m. Sunday will be “God’s Response to Suffering.” The service will also be streamed live on the church’s Facebook page. The nursery for infants and toddlers and Kids Worship, for children age four years through fifth grade, will be available.
Adult Choir, grades six-adult, and KidzLife for grades K-5 are back on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 with the new school year.

Providence Baptist
Providence Baptist Church, Hayes, is continuing to have worship services at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. Many of the Adult Sunday School classes have restarted, meeting at 9:15. Arrow Kids, children four years to third grade, meet during worship. There is no childcare, birth-three years, during worship.
Young at Heart will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Eggheads Restaurant, Gloucester Point.
Starting Wednesday, Kidz Jam (ages four-fifth grade) will meet at 6:30 p.m.

Salem United Methodist, Diggs
The sermon title of the Rev. Coleman Tyler, guest speaker at Salem United Methodist Church, Diggs, at the 10:50 a.m. Sunday service, will be “On Christ, The Solid Rock.” He is an associate pastor of Truro Anglican Church in Fairfax. Adult and children’s Sunday school will begin at 9:45.

At 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, a Requiem, a service to remember the dead, will be held in honor of the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

The First United Baptist
The First United Baptist Church, White Marsh, will return to in-sanctuary worship at its normal 11 a.m. start time on Sunday. The sermon title of Pastor E. Randolph Graham will be “Friends Love … but … Families are for Adversities.” Holy Communion will be observed. The service will be simulcast and streamed via Zoom and Facebook Live. Family and Friends Day will be celebrated after the service; there will be fun, games, fellowship and food. COVID-19 shots will be available, as well as, voter registration will be held. Mask wearing is encouraged, sign-in is required and social distancing will be observed.
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of The Rappahannock
