There will be a Blessing of the Animals at 4 p.m. Leashed, contained animals and their people are welcome, a release said. Pet food will be collected for Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society.

Apostles Lutheran Church, Gloucester, will hold the 20th Sunday after Pentecost worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday. A special emphasis on the 50th anniversary of ELCA World Hunger will continue and there will be a coffee fellowship after the service. There will be a Blessing of the Animals at noon.
Bellamy United Methodist
Bellamy United Methodist Church, Gloucester, will observe the 22nd Sunday after Pentecost at the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. services. Pastor Ed Walker will preach from the Gospel of Mark where Jesus talks about marriage and divorce. Bible study meets at 9:20 and the Faith Builders Bible Study will meet at 9:30. The Well contemporary worship service will gather at 11:30. The Youth Group meets at 5 p.m. with dinner provided.
Bethany United Methodist
The sermon title of Pastor Paul Song of Bethany United Methodist Church, Gloucester Point, at the 8:30 (informal) and at 11 a.m. (traditional) Sunday services will be “One Body.” Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:45. Nursery for infants to 3-year-olds starts at 9:40.

Mr. Harris and Friends will visit Riverside Convalescent Center in Saluda from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday. They will sing and he will share a message with the residents.
Bethel Church of Mathews
The Rev. Garry Livermon of Bethel Church of Mathews, Onemo, will continue in the book of Ephesians at 9:50 a.m. Sunday. Sunday school will follow at 11. Nicole Foster will continue the Bible study, “The Forge,” at 4 p.m.
On Oct. 12, Mr. Livermon will have a class for anyone wanting to join Bethel from 9 a.m.-noon at the pastor’s home. A harvest party for the children of the church and community will also be held from 4-6 p.m.

Salem Community
Pastor Scott Pollard will preach at the 11 a.m. Sunday holy communion service in Salem Community Church, Gloucester. The church is going the “second mile” this month for all those who stood in the path of Hurricane Helene. Join us as we unite in prayer and communion, and in praise of the Hope for us all, a release said. The Craft Store will have clearance items available for sale after the service.
The Crafting Crew will meet between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesdays. The Salem Mission Team will present Can Bingo from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday in the fellowship hall to help the Food Bank. Salem Kids in Mission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11.
